The Power of Retargeting for E-commerce Websites
Did you know?
- Over 95% of users leave websites without converting (purchasing an item).
- Over 72% of users put items in their online cart to buy, but abandon their shopping carts.
There are many ways you can support business online, and retargeting is one of the most effective methods in E-commerce.
What is Retargeting?
Retargeting serves digital display ads to people who have visited your website and have previously engaged with your brand online. Retargeting finds these users on the internet, brings them back and transforms them into customers. It works by placing a snippet of code on your site which places cookies on your visitor’s browser. Retargeting allows you to track who has been to your site and target them as they browse the web.
- Builds brand awareness and relationships
- Highly targeted reach
- Performance-only basis
Increases clicks and conversion rates
- Brings users back
Once you design the right ads for your audience and place them in the right location, retargeting can bring customers back to your brand. What companies do you see that effectually use retargeting?

You can help support our friends Gift for Life as they raise money for the fight against HIV/AIDS. This year, they have walkers both on the AIDS Walk NYC course through Central Park and on a “virtual walk” through the aisles of the Javits Center, creating lots of ways you can get involved.

To conclude our High Point Highlights series, here are some of my favorite finds from the spring market! (In case you missed them, check out our High Point Market Part 1, Part 2, and Pantone Color of the Year posts.)
Cyan Design: I loved Cyan Design’s clever idea to attract customers to their showroom. They brought in a real life Aladdin and magic carpet so that customers could interact with him and take photos. This was a great marketing technique that made Cyan more memorable than many of their competitors at High Point.
A real Aladdin and magic carpet!
Amy Howard at Home: The on-site demonstrations were a hit among buyers. Amy Howard at Home showed how to use their paints, stains, and antiquing glazes, and customers left empowered to create their own DIY projects. This was a great example of the way demonstrating a product can lead to customer growth and increased sales.

Thibaut Design: To showcase their wallpaper, Thibaut sleekly displayed patterns around their showroom. They marketed themselves by thoughtfully positioning a variety of colors and varieties on every wall, which created an eye-catching display.

Nuevo: Nuevo had some of my favorite modern furniture, including these fabulous counter stools. Their chair designs reminded me of earlier furniture by Eames and Bertoia. Neuvo’s showroom grouped their furniture around the showroom by style, a great way to organize products.
